Never Give Up!

So far, so good! I feel badly because I have been so busy, and had already gotten behind on checking and editing my students' blogs. Despite my lapse, they have all been busy, and have put up some lovely posts. I can actually see an improvement in their writing already!

This week's blog assignment is "Communicating With Family and Friends". So far, two students have completed the assignment, and I am really pleased with their efforts.

Practise, practise, practise. I hope that everyone who is studying English realizes that the best way to get better at something is to just 'keep on keeping on'. That is: Don't give up! Keep trying! Practise makes perfect!

I am so proud of my students.

Hello!

It's 2010!

A new year is beginning, and I have a new project for my students. From now on, all of my students will be signing up to blogger.com and be posting weekly. This project will help all of us. I will be able to see and edit their work from wherever I am, and they will all have an opportunity to do the following:

  • Practise using the computer
  • Improve spelling, grammar, and composition
  • Develop and maintain a web 'community'
  • See the progression of their skills over time
I'm really enthused about this project. Recently, the students have been asking for more writing practise, and I think this is the perfect tool for it.

I will give them a weekly topic every Monday, and each student must complete 2-3 (or more) paragraphs in their blogs. This week's topics are "My Christmas Vacation" or "My New Year's Resolutions". They can choose which topic inspires them more. All the blog entries must be completed by Thursday, when I will review the work and provide feedback.
